Yo Glow Enzyme Exfoliator

Ingredients List

What hudabeauty.com has to say about the active ingredients:

· Papaya Fruit Extract: Known to smooth and increase skin clarity leaving a radiant glow.

· Pineapple Fruit Extract: Helps to gently exfoliate, reduce dark spots and soothe skin.

· BHA & AHAs: Alpha hydroxy acids and beta hydroxy acids that help to exfoliate dead skin cells, reduce dark spots and even skin texture and complexion.

· Cellulose: A soft, gentle exfoliant that evens skin texture and complexion.

Papaya extract is an average exfoliant ingredient. This ingredient has been found to have exfoliating properties, but it can also be a skin sensitizer that can cause irritation. As this product is not intended to be left on the skin for long and is washed off, this will greatly reduce the potential of irritation.

This product also contains BHA and AHA exfoliating ingredients in the form of salicylic acid and glycolic acid. These are both fantastic exfoliating ingredients. Salicylic acid helps support the shedding of dead skin cells and has the ability to exfoliate inside the pore to reduce congestion and breakouts. This makes salicylic acid a good choice for acne prone skin. Glycolic acid is arguably the best AHA ingredient. This ingredient works to renew the surface of the skin which can reduce the physical signs of aging such as sun damage.

Pineapple is another good exfoliating ingredient that contains antioxidant and skin soothing properties. These four ingredients together create a potent exfoliation product that will effectively remove dead skin cells and congestion. However, this may be too strong or irritating for some skin types.

Dead Skin Cells?

This product has featured on social media with users demonstrating how their dead skin is peeling off while using this product. I hate to break it to you but that is not what is happening. This formula contains cellulose which is formulated to ball up on contact with skin. These flakes and balls of “dead skin” are actually balls of cellulose that are there to provide a gentle physical exfoliation while using the product.

My Thoughts

I have thoroughly enjoyed using this product. Given the high number of exfoliating ingredients I was surprised that my skin did not feel over stripped or irritated after using this product, instead my skin felt soft and looked glowy and fresh. I do like this product but it will never fully replace my leave on chemical exfoliation products, but I am keeping the Yo Glow Enzyme exfoliator on hand to use once a week for a more intense exfoliation.

Honey Balm Jelly Moisturiser

Ingredients List

What hudabeauty.com has to say about the active ingredients:

· Honey: Known to add and lock in moisture and soothe skin.

· Turmeric Root Extract: Known to soothe skin, reduce dark spots, and even skin tone.

· Niacinamide: Known as Vitamin B3, it visibly reduces the appearance of pores and uneven skin tone.

· Lavender Oil: Known to calm, soothe and relax.

Honey has antioxidant properties, amino acids, peptides, and natural antibacterial components. These properties work to protect and strengthen the skin while providing moisture and hydration. In addition to this, honey is an occlusive ingredient which forms a protective barrier on the skin surface that protects the skin from harmful substances and prevent trans epidermal water loss. This protective barrier essentially works like the skins natural protective barrier which can support the skin and assist in repairing a damaged skin barrier. Turmeric is another skincare ingredient with antioxidant and skin soothing properties.

Niacinamide is an all-round do good ingredient for the skin. It can help to improve the appearance of large pores, improve uneven skin tone, reduce fine likes, and support a weakened skin surface. Niacinamide can also reduce and in some cases repair damage from UV exposure and other environmental damage such as airborne pollutants.

Lavender oil, I’m not sure why this ingredient has been included in this moisturiser. Lavender has been shown to calm, soothe and relax in aromatherapy. However, as a skincare ingredient this is a fragrant ingredient that can be sensitizing and cause irritation. While I did not experience any irritation or sensitivity from this product, this could be irritating for other people. Furthermore, research has suggested that irritation and sensitivity are not always immediately visible for your skin to become damaged.

My Thoughts

This moisturiser has the most interesting texture. It is thick and heavy and almost waxy which would sound really unpleasant, but as soon as this is applied to the skin is skins without feeling heavy. This makes the skin feel comfortable and hydrated while giving the skin a nice glow. I have been enjoying using this moisturiser both morning and evening in the cold weather, but I think that once the weather heats up I might find this product a little too much for my oily skin. While using this moisturiser I have not experienced any irritation or sensitivity, however while finding out about lavender oil while researching the ingredients for this review I have become a little concerned about this product. I will continue to use the jar I have and see if I experience any irritation or sensitivity.

Get Even Rose Oil

Ingredients List

What hudabeauty.com has to say about the active ingredients:

· Damascus Rose Oil: Soothes skin, visibly clarifies complexion, and effectively locks in moisture.

· Carrot Seed Oil: Moisturizes and visibly tightens skin while evening out the look of texture and tone.

· Rosehip Oil: Visibly evens skin tone and reduces the appearance of dark spots and fine lines.

Damascus Rose oil is a fragrant plant extract that can pose a risk of skin irritation. However, this ingredient has also been shown to be relaxing when the scent is inhaled and it can have skin-soothing and antioxidant properties that can protect and repair the skin. Rosehip oil is a good plant extract that contains antioxidant components that will protect the skin. The oil has emollient properties and contains fatty acids that are beneficial to the skin. This will moisturise the skin and support the skin barrier. Carrot seed oil is another emollient plant oil. The Get Even Rose Oil contains a good combination of beneficial plant oils that will protect and support the skin barrier while moisturising the outer layer of skin. From a formulation perspective, this is a good formula as long as you don’t have a fragrance sensitivity.

My Thoughts

First let’s address the elephant in the room with this product: the smell. This product has a very strong smell. It smells a little rose and very herbaly. I can’t say I particularly enjoy the scent, but as I have been applying this before moisturiser the smell seems to disappear once I have applied my moisturiser. That’s where the bad aspects of this product end so I am willing to live with the scent. This oil is amazing. I only need a few drops to cover my whole face and it sinks in relatively quickly. The oil instantly moisturises my skin and sooths any irritation or dryness that I may have. I have mainly been using this oil at night and when I use it I wake up with soft glowing skin. From how my skin feels in the morning, I would say this is definitely preventing trans epidermal water loss during the night.

Thirst Trap Serum

Ingredients List

What hudabeauty.com has to say about the active ingredients:

· Hyaluronic Acid: Holds up to 1000 times its weight in water creating a plumping effect while it also forms a moisturizing film on the surface of the skin for visible, surface-level hydration.

· Niacinamide: Supports ceramides production that help maintain the skin's protective barrier.

· Sodium Hyaluronate: Penetrates the upper layers of the skin and helps to smooth out fine lines.

· Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid: Works to hydrate the deeper layers of the skin and has powerful regenerating properties. Peptides: Plumps, firms and reduces the appearance of fine lines by stimulating collagen production.

· Hollyhock Rose: Native to Asia and Europe, this plant has excellent hydrating properties.

· Aloe Vera: Known for its ability to soothe skin and boost hydration.

This product contains three forms of hyaluronic acid: standard hyaluronic acid, sodium hyaluronate, and hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic is a hydrating ingredient that has the ability to replenish and restore the skin. It is able to hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water which makes hyaluronic acid perfect for boosting the moisture content of the skin and defending against moisture loss. Hyaluronic acid has also been shown to have antioxidant properties that protect the skin from environmental damage. Having three different forms of hyaluronic acid - these have different molecular weights, means that the hyaluronic acid can penetrate further into the skin and provide deeper levels of moisture and water loss prevention.

Niacinamide helps to support the skin barrier by boosting ceramide production, while also supporting moisture retention, reducing redness and inflammation, reducing hyperpigmentation, and regulating oil production. In my opinion nacinamide is an all-round to good ingredient, and it has been rated at “BEST” by Paula’s Choice. This ingredient works well with all other skincare ingredients and does not irritate or sensitise the skin in most formulation.

The Thirst Trap contains a cocktail of peptides. These are amino acids, and amino acids are what makes up protein. The skin is mainly made up of a protein called keratin, so the use of peptides helps to support this. Research has suggested that peptides have skin restoring properties, skin-soothing effects, and have been shown to improve the look of wrinkles and loss of firmness. Peptides are considered a rather unstable ingredient that require considerable attention to detail when it comes to formulation and packaging to prevent the peptides from degrading, which will prevent the peptides from having any effect.

My Thoughts

I have really enjoyed using the Thirst Trap Serum. I have been using it morning and evening, and my skin has been feeling more hydrated with less oil production. the serum applies nicely and sinks into the skin without leaving a heavy feeling. This serum has worked well along side my other favourite products such as chemical exfoliation and vitamin C without any negative interactions or sensitivity. This is an all round good hydration serum that has really worked for my skin.

Overall thoughts on Wishful Skin

I have really enjoyed the experience of using Wishful Skin. The Yo Glow Enzyme exfoliator is not what I expected at all. With the ingredients I thought that it was going to be too harsh and leave my skin irritated and compromised. Instead it made my skin soft and with a natural glow, though I have only been using it 1/2 times a week. While I have enjoyed the exfoliator it will not be replacing my liquid chemical exfoliants as I feel that these do a better job at getting into the pores and clearing out congestion as they are designed to be left on, but I will continue to use Yo Glow for the soft and radiant skin that it gives me. The Honey Balm Jelly Moisturiser has a texture like I have never used before. It feels heavy and occlusive but once applied melts into a lovely moisturiser that leaves a protective barrier without feeling heavy. I do wonder how my oily skin will get on with this texture in summer and I will report back. The Thirst Trap serum is a lovely hydrating hyaluronic acid serum that I thoroughly enjoyed using. Get Even Rose Oil is a really nice facial oil with a lovely combination of antioxidant and emollient ingredients to repair and protect the skin. I have found this oil to really suit my oily skin, and evening application appears to have reduced my daytime oil production. Perhaps this is because the oil is giving my skin the moisture that it needs to prevent it from over producing sebum. The scent of the oil is a big negative for me but I am looking past it and continuing to use the oil because of how it makes my skin feel.
